Atorvastatin is a prescription medicine approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Most commonly, this drug is prescribed to patients with atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a condition where fatty deposits called plaques form on artery walls and cause heart disease and stroke. Some side effects of atorvastatin can be very serious. These include stroke, myelopathy, hypercalcemia, congestive heart failure, renal failure, pancreatitis, and even death. There are many other serious side effects, but none have been reported yet. However, it is important to note that while side effects do not cause death directly, they can still cause the death of a patient if they are not treated.
